Salvage and placement of the plaques as part of an interpretive center was indeed part of the project. Here is a photo from the Pickaway County website http://www.pickaway.org/engineer/sciotoriverbridge.html

I hope someone knows if the demo crews spared the plaques of this wasted truss. I seen it had pretty ornate releif design according to the pictures on here. I did read that the ugly concrete thing does have some sort of monument or I should say "memorial" or "epitaph" set into one of its railings for the truss and the covered bridge that preceded it.

Has construction on the gosh-darn UCEB even started?

A few pictures from Friday, December 21, 2007. Spoke with the county on 12/21/07 and like Janis said the State will be building a new bridge next to this steel truss beginning in 2008. The project should last about 2 years but they have no idea what the State plans to do with the steel truss. Is there any type of a clearing house for these old bridges that can possibly be saved and used elsewhere such as a park?

Webmaster's note: The photos that were here have been incorporated into the main site.

This is bridge 6533159. It is still there, and it is spectacular. See it quickly, though. It's scheduled to be removed in 2008.
