Description

This bridge is the first four track bridge built in 1915 one girder on each side of the bascule span and two tracks are inside the span. According to the article Volume 52 Railway Age Gazette (March 21 1912)of this bridge this is an unusual implementation of a Strauss Heel trunnion bascule bridge, this bridge has a pinion carrier on the end of the bascule span and the strut attaches to the upper part of the counterweight bridge tower that causes the engaging racks when raised to shift to the centerline of this bridge, however the counterweight trunnions only connected to the truss not the girders one of each on the outside span which isn't in use except the inside double track.
