Latest and Final update.I paid a visit to the bridge today on 4-26-2013. The bridge is 100% completely gone.No trusses left only concrete supports. It is a lost bridge now.

Anyone been to this bridge recently? The recent Google satellite image is odd. One span is removed, the other two remain but with deck gone. This would imply the image was taken during demolition yet I cannot see any construction equipment around the bridge. Is the bridge completely gone?

Ohio is using their money to do trivial little projects like this that are a total waste so they can claim no money for the important projects so they can justify selling the turnpike. They will do this bridge or the one at Navarre which are not important at all then skip the popular and important projects and claim lack of money.

I plan to visit the Stillwell Bridge site via canoe the last weekend of April?

Where can I find historical data on it? I see it was built in 1904. I would imagine it had to be rebuilt after the 1913 flood. There is debris in the river, most likely from the flood.

As I recall, there was or is a campground nearby. If I can get permission, I would like to camp there and do some exploring for an article or blog post.

Wow. With stupid wasteful things like this going on I find it hard to believe the claims that there is a shortage of surface transportation funding in this country. Ohio obviously has gobs of money to be throwing around if they intend to waste it on something as useless as demolishing this bridge.
