CSX - Poplar Creek Rd Tunnel
Description
This tunnel is between Brown School Rd and Johnson Station Rd (formerly Cassel Rd) and is similar to the Little York Rd tunnel to the south, but one difference is that Poplar Creek also runs through the tunnel along with the former road alignment. The CSX mainline runs above the tunnel. I am not sure when the road was closed but I do remember driving through the tunnel in the 1970's. At one time, people would stop and wash their cars in the creek but at some point a short wall was built to prevent that. There is a Youtube video of the tunnel, search on Poplar Creek Tunnel to find it.
