Posted August 9, 2013, by John Thompson (jtrails642649 [at] yahoo [dot] com)

This bridge was not constructed in 1955, however was part of the Lorain and West Virginia railroad, chartered in 1906 by Wheeling and Lake Erie railroad (original). Entire route built to haul coal to steel plant in Lorain, Ohio, serving also a meat processing plant on the west end of a long steel trestle in Sheffield, Ohio, the Ohio Edison company on Lake Ave., coal to the Oberlin College, a small sandstone quarry near Oberlin, and a bucket plant in Wellington.
