Historic marker Welcome to Ohio University - Lancaster The John Bridge No. 2 Covered Bridge was built in 1881 by Augustus Borneman. The suspension truss design is known to have been used in only a few bridges in Ohio. The laminated wooden arch was added later. Primary support: 6-panel, inverted bowstring truss with wrought-iron lower chord and diagonal members, but wooden upper chord and vertical members
Secondary support: Wooden Burr arch, added 1913
