Description 

This bridge is in place abandoned near the flats by the power house. Jackknife type which it really a heel trunnion type. This bascule bridge was built by the American Bridge Company of 1956 carries a single track, this span length is 255 foot and holds a record in it's raised position abandoned. At night this bridge lights up and fenced around kept as a landmark.

Exactly the bridge is kept in the raised position as a landmark, notice the B&O rail bridge has a fence around the bridge, at night the lights I believe still light up.

from what you are saying doug,this bridge has been abandoned and as long as it isn't a threat to anybody it will probably stay as it is.

This bridge has been abandoned since the late 1980's.
