OW - High View Tunnel
Photo
NYO&W High View Tunnel
The New York, Ontario & Western's High View tunnel north portal. At some point in the previous 50 years, "they" (officialdom) destroyed the tunnel portal. Perhaps it was to discourage people from going into the tunnel, but the effect was to stop the tunnel from draining properly. So, when, years later, they needed to inspect the tunnel, they had to clear away the rubble and put in a drainage pipe, which you can see at the bottom of this photo.

Description
Tunnel on the former NYO&W route, abandoned in 1957. Attempts to block access to the north portal have resulted in considerable flooding since the tunnel is located on a summit and slopes northward for most of its length.
