I drove to Wruck Road last week for the purpose of getting some nice photos of the bridge.

The bridge is gone.

I don't know when it was removed. It was there a few years ago.

The satellite imagery on this bridge appears to show that it has been demolished.

This bridge is slated for removal this spring 2014. Contract is being let right now. This contract also includes the Peet Street Bridge which is also closed.

What a dreadful choice to make. Destroying two fine trusses that could be fixed and converted to pedestian use. What fun is to be exploring the historic Erie canal (I toured the canal at Lockport NY, as an example.) with abandoned abutments and concrete slabs. YUCK.

This bridge along with the nearby Peet St bridge are both scheduled to be torn down by the NY Canal Corporation by the end of Summer 2011. No replacements for either bridge are scheduled.

I visited this bridge in September 2007, it was closed. The north end approach was deteriorating badly underneath. I am guessing this is why it was closed.
