The bridge is open and several cars passed over it (west to east)while I was there. I didn't cross it personally mostly because I'm not crazy about taking my car over open-grate decks.

Permanent road barriers have been erected. No vehicular traffic is possible.

Good news! The bridge has been re-done and is now open to lightweight passenger vehicles only. The roads to the bridge still have Road Closed signs, but will be updated. The bridge is a single lane span and the view of the river is gorgeous. Well worth the drive. 8/8/2019

Closed? Demolition? This bridge is too beautiful to demolish! And didn't they just do a rehab on it a few years ago?

I did get to visit it once and take a whole roll of pictures back in 2010 on my way from New Orleans.
