I live by this bridge and did you notice that they made mistakes they made T over t and e over e and frisco sign over e
A portion of the approach to the bridge on the south side was destoyed by a BNSF southbound taconite train that derailed in August of 2002. The lumber trestle approach was filled in with tons and tons of rock to stabilize the older wooden beams that remained. Found some pictures taken by Bradley Hufnagel showing the damage...
Great bridge!!! Thank you for getting this one on the website. I have seen a pictutre of it in the book by John Szwajkart, Train Watcher's Guide to St. Louis. His other two are just as great( one covers Kansas City and the other, Chicago). There are a few more Frisco bridges in the area that would be great to see, as well as other RR and Hwy bridges in the state of Missouri and Iowa. I'll send you a list. I hope Walthers comes out with kits like this in different sizes for modelers. Have a great week!!!
I drove under this bridge a few days ago and noticed the wooden beams on the north end of the bridge have been pulled out and replaced with steel girders. The supports on the south side are still wooden, but with a concrete top support for the bridge deck.
