This bridge was completely submerged during the floods of April 1973 and again during the "Great Flood of 1993". The latter event is chronicled in the book, "High and Mighty - The Great Flood of 1993" published by Andrew and McMeel Publishing Company and sold by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch at its downtown headquarters on Tucker Boulevard.
