So the county got 80% of the demolition cost subsidized but none of the repair cost would have been shared. Now that it has been destroyed they hope for it's status to be changed so state funding can help to pay for building a new bridge?
I wounder if the contractors have any input in how the state categorizes these projects?
The bridge was demolished by MoDOT and was never replaced, unfortunately.
Pretty sure the article refers to this bridge based on the pictures:

I agree with re-opening this bridge.Much safer to travel this road where people are not trying to push you off the road at 90 mph. With the price of gas continually going up , it doesnt make since to have to drive completely out of the way to get home!
Are u going to open the bridge and why did u close it
I was at this bridge in the first part of April(2008) and it was blocked at the south approach.
how was this bridge made obsolete?? taking berry road north from bonne terre to access side roads such as primrose and silver springs road, is much safer than taking 67 norh and crossing over the highway, playing chicken with the on coming cars. i beleive that this bridge should be maintained and safe at all times ,and not thought as an unused road because to those who want to be safe like to think that the option will always be avaible. i could understand closing the bridge only if our highway 67 was a proper highway and had safe on and off ramps.
It sucks and needs to be fixed
I wished they kept this bridge. I would loved to drive on it on the way to St. Louis.
