Postcard

This postcard is captioned, "Wagon Bridge over Wyaconda River, La Grange, Mo."

BH Photo #105927

Description

Built in 1899 to carry Red Ball Rt 1, later US 61, now Mo Rt B over Wyaconda River. This bridge was replaced in 1932, when Red Ball 1 was hard surfaced with concrete from Trabue Lane in Ralls County to Wayland, MO in 1932. It is also believed that this bridge was moved (probably by the County) to Steffenville, MO over the South Fabius River. It remains there today, usable, on a low maintenance road.

You can still visit this bridge (in dry weather) SW of Steffenville, MO; now called Deacon / Mesmer Bridge.
