Plaque This bridge used to carry US Hwy. 16 through Luverne. It was built in 1931 right about the time the road was being paved. Its predecessor consisted of a pin-connected Pratt through truss bridge built in 1908 by P.N. Gilham, who later was responsible for building various reinforced concrete arch bridges. It was over 190 ft. long. Before that, a wooden through truss built in 1873 and just as long as the steel through truss bridge took its place. Photo taken in 1998 by Jason Smith |
