Looks like it has flooded there on several occasions. Maybe this neat little span would be safer restored in a Rochester park.

Thanks for those recent flood pictures Ted

I tried getting that way during the flood but the sheriffs were not letting anyone go north on 18th ave past 75th st unless u lived in that area, It also amazes me that this bridge didn't get washed away during this flood

You can see that at some point one abutment was replaced with concrete here are two more pictures of things i found under the east approach

My guess is the portal bracing is an alteration, and is not representative of the original design.

This is a particularly interesting bridge - I have never seen this design of portal bracing before. If I had to classify it, the best term I can think of is "pedimented A-frame".
