Description

"Present bridge was built in 1911 as a grade separation project. At that time, the Union Square train station (long gone) was located on the northerly side of the tracks just west of the new bridge." -S.J. Roper, MDPW Historic Bridge Specialist, 1/1991

A plate girder pipe bridge was originally built immediately adjacent to the east side of this bridge. It was replaced by a through-truss structure in 1940, which in turn was replaced by a prefabricated truss in 2015.
