According to the National Bridge Inventory, the Inventory rating is 23.8 tons. The operating rating is 40.6 tons. The original design load of the bridge was MS 18 / HS 20.

Note that these ratings may very well differ from the actual posted and enforced weight limits. If you are planning on taking an overweight load over the bridge, please contact INDOT and/or obey any posted weight limit signs.

This is known as the Matthew E. Welsh Bridge, named for the Governor of Indiana during the time it was built (he served 1961-65, the bridge opened in '66). It serves as a vital link between Meade County, Ky. and Harrison County, Ind.; Indiana S.R. 135 links the community to I-64.
