"New" River Road Bridge

Photos

Overview

The "New" in "New" River Road Bridge is misleading. The bridge was built in 1935 and the bridge it replaces (See Old River Road/Goose Creek Bridge) sits to the right of the bridge if one is traveling west on River Road.

"New" River Road Bridge Status
Posted February 13, 2009, by Dr. Victoria Williams (vwilliams100 [at] hotmail [dot] com)

This one-lane bridge has been "temporarily" closed since late 2008 and is in danger of being demolished and replaced by a a more modern, two-lane bridge to serve suburban commuters who desire a faster trip along scenic River Road.
