So, now I've got it narrowed down that this was probably removed somewhere between 1997 and 2003 - basically around the turn of the century, given that window.

1997 comes from the ATSF lines - at least those not carried over to the BNSF - ceasing operations after 1996: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atchison,_Topeka_and_Santa_Fe_...
