So, a truss with an oversized bottom chord...

Welcome to Kansas...we might not have the biggest or oldest bridges, but we sure have our fair share of the bizarre ones...

To me, that looks like the original design of the truss. Looks like the truss is carrying a heavy girder floor for the ballasted track. The Rock Creek bridge north of here has a similar design

Looks to me like this truss has been supplemented by a girder.

One of the most massively built up through trusses I've ever seen. Truly huge.

I have not seen this bridge, but Google Maps clearly indicates that there is a through truss bridge at this location.
