Line has a colorful history, but was abandoned over this bridge in 1975. Bridge spans removed in early 1980's..

Rail lines are on separate grade elevations, with Westbound track right of way much higher and built 1911-1916.

Later, Laketon Refinery had a short stretch relaid to access their plant to the Norfolk Southern Railway Marion Branch at Bolivar.

NS - Huntington District Overpass [Map · Street View] Deck girder bridge over Norfolk Southern Railway (ex- New York Central, Penn Central, Conrail) Marion Branch on Norfolk Southern Railway (ex- Norfolk and Western Railway, Wabash Railroad) Huntington District in WabashOpen to trafficThis bridge has been a headache for the railroads with it's low clearance. Collisions have occured when tall rail cars hit the bridge in the past. Both rail lines busy and have a connection here.
NS - Lafontaine Avenue Overpass [Map · Street View] Pony/through plate girder bridge over Lafontaine Avenue near Bailey Road and Waterworks Road intersection on Norfolk Southern Railway(nee Conrail, Penn Central, New York Central, Big Four Railroads)Open to trafficRailroad is part of the NS Marion Branch running from Elkhart to Anderson, Indiana. Located on start of big climb out of Wabash River valley for Southbound trains. Built on new alignment, as old was just East of this location.
