Description

When this bridge needed to be replaced in 1936 (Reason unknown) an unusual replacement was found nearby. The 1891 iron bridge that was on the first alignment of the National Road (US 40) had been abandoned in 1925 by a much larger concrete arch structure on a new alignment. The orphaned bridge sat for 11 years before being moved the short distance where it is now referred to as the Cooper Iron Bridge.
