You're right Tom... I had forgotten about that!

I'm sure it was done to hasten the building of a new bridge, as the old one was looking pretty dilapidated.

I remember reading in two covered bridge books that this bridge was destroyed when vandals cut the lower cords which let the structure crash in the creek.
