Gullets Creek Bridge

The bridge was apparently too far along in the process for the Select status to have had any effect, but I will be curious to find out for sure.

I had been told that an engineer that specializes in historic bridge rehabilitation said it was in extremely bad shape.

This one has now been demolished. Crossed it Monday afternoon Jan 2, 2012, and on Thursday afternoon I found the road closed and nothing but air between the abutments.

The bridge is posted for a load limit of 10 tons, and I think we can all see why. Doesn't stop the 18 wheelers going to a smelting operation a couple miles South from crossing it though

Stopped by and got some pictures on 12/28/11. Noticed the bridge closure signs had disappeared at the bridge, though one was still in place a couple of miles North at the Washboard Road intersection. The creek was up so I couldn't access the South side to get enough distance for a good overall shot of the East side of the bridge. Overgrowth will make a good overall view challenging at best.

This one is listed as a SELECT bridge...so hopefully it is just being rehabilitated. Will have to contact Cooper and see if he has any info on this situation.

I posted a few SHAARD photos to give you an idea of what's here. Its a magnificent open spandrel concrete arch. I assume this bridge is about to be demolished based on the below comment? It would be nice if one of the Indiana contributors could go out and get a bunch of photos of this bridge. The SHAARD photos are very low quality, and it deserves something better.
