After several years of rumors about its demise the U.S. 31 Bridge will face demolition in April of 2016. This was the lead story in the (Columbus) Republic's front page on Thursday Jan. 21. INDOT said it will be replaced with a 382 ft. concrete beam structure by Nov. of 2016. Only a few years ago the S.R. 3 Bridge was also replaced over Sand Creek in Jennings County.
