Overview
Bridge over Defenbaugh Street with low clearance, mostly wooden construction. Damaged in truck hit, and partially removed July 2011..
Location
Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana
Status
Bridge hit by concrete truck and damaged bridge. Center span over roadway was removed. Unknown if span is still intact nearby - July 10, 2011
Future prospects
Recently purchased by Winamac Southern Railway "WSRY"(US Rail Corporation operator) from Central Railroad of Indianapolis "CERA" who had sought to abandon the rail line including this bridge before Surface Transportation Board allowed the sale to new owner. Entire section of this rail line(both WSRY's and NS's property either side of this bridge)is currently out of service and hasn't had rail traffic in nearly 10 years.
History
Very low underpass that has been undercut many times to allow truck traffic to go under, finally destroyed by concrete truck and removed.. Another similiar structure on rail line just East of here has been removed.
