Facts

Overview
Abandoned concrete culvert bridge over Mier Road aka Old State Road 18 on Formerly Conrail Railroad(nee Penn Central, Pennsylvania, "Panhandle") Line is abandoned.
Location
Mier, Grant County, Indiana
Status
Removed but not replaced
Future prospects
Could be used as part of either the Sweetser Switch Trail or a continuance of the Cardinal Greenway from Marion on it's way toward Bunker Hill. May be part of the American Discovery Trail. EDIT:Noticed bridge is now removed as of summer 2012 and road straightened out.
History
The road underneath this concrete bridge was the original Highway route until a newer bridge was built East of here to carry SR 18 and SR 13 over the old PRR and C&O tracks, as well as the original route. Rail Line abandoned for over 20 years.
Design
Wide design for former double track railroad. Roadway had to make harsh turns to pass under bridge and very low clearance was dangerous for high profile vehicles.
