See this link http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=201...

for an update on the nearly restored Portersville bridge to be used in Charlestown Park as a pedestrian crossing. A fine re-use of a grand little bridge!

just to make a note the are suppose to pave the trail, but will have to see. tried to go today, and it was utterly muddy and a mess, and be prepared for a steep descent and climb back out.

This will be a must see for the summer. At least the bridge will still have both spans together instead of separate, and at least be spanning water. This location also looks scenic for the bridge. Quite an example of a rebuild and restoration project when it comes to moving a bridge to a different location.

Good to see the bridge come back to life again!

Although the stream is much smaller than the White River, they have done a great job of making it look like it belongs there. Will look forward to seeing it when completed.

Another Indiana success story!! Makes me smile! :)

J.P. a similar thing is being done to the Craig Bridge in Helena, MT (http://bridgehunter.com/mt/lewis-and-clark/craig/). To update the bridge's new location, I just adjusted the location (gps) and noted it in the page's information. However, since this bridge is in a totally different county then where it used to be, you may have to create a new page for this bridge and then note the bridge's new location and status on the bridge's old page. Its up to you. We will pick you up around 4:00 or 4:30 today.

should we create a new page for the bridge or just adjust the location on the page?

This is called the Portersville Bridge named after the small town just southwest of the bridge in Dubois County.

Just a note to let you know that my company has moved this bridge from Portersville Indiana to a state park in Charlestown Indiana. We moved both spans of the bridge off of the river in Oct/Nov. of 2008, and dismantled both spans to be transported to Charlestown Indiana for the Indiana DNR. Plans include reassembling the bridge in the Charlestown state park at a later date. Right now the entire bridge is safe and sound inside an old munitions building within the state park.
