This great bridge just got removed today. On it's way to Brown County. I was at my crap-hole job while it was being removed. Will try to post a video asap.

Gee Nathan! I have been confused about this for quite awhile! Art and I were both getting info that really wasn't letting us in on the happening. Whatever, GREAT news that the spans will be spared! It looks like one of the spans will be very close to the double covered bridge at the north entrance to Brown County State park. Beautiful area. I wonder, though, why Brown Co hasn't checked into the Wrightsman bridge in their own county or the old Yellowood Forest road pony (which has been demolished) for use in the park? Logistics and Politics I suppose. I will try and get more info.

I has assumed based on Mike's comment in 2016 that this bridge was going to be demolished, BUT after my visit to this bridge I dug up the project contract... and... I have good news: Per contract documents, this bridge's spans will be moved to a park near Nashville, turning this two-span highway bridge into two single span pedestrian bridges! I am attaching some of the contract pages.

This screwy situation pisses me off! Going to Brown County...Not going to Brown County...Wanna have a park made around the bridge...No park. I have not heard formally heard that it is to be demolished, but that doesn't surprise me. As a person who lives about 7 miles from this bridge, I will have a hard time traveling 46. The only reason to go back now would be for the Pioneer Cafe in downtown BG. Fine food!

Oops! The move to Brown County is off, denied ok to relocate. What do you suppose will happen next? Clay county folks not wanting it are crapping right now, I assume.

Unfortunately, the article is behind a pay wall.

What's the gist of the article?

INDOT closed this bridge again today over "structural safety concerns" due to "more corrosion in the structural steel than was previously documented."

This one is open again. Crossed over it in the afternoon of 12/28/11.

Checked on this one at dusk 12/13/11 from the Bowling Green side and found a backhoe and compressor parked about the middle of the bridge with no one in sight. Presumably the backhoe has a jackhammer attachment, which is why the compressor. No visible workings.

An Indiana Economic Digest article from Nov 21 states that it is hoped the bridge can be opened in early January 2012. Also states that contractors will not be required to stop for the holidays, and that no extensions will be granted for holiday work suspensions.

A crack was found in one of the gusset plates. Hopefully no other problems will be found and this can be quickly repaired.

This comes less than 3 weeks after the IN42 Eel River Bridge was closed after being struck by a garbage truck. I found nothing to suggest that it is still closed.

Both of these State Highway Department Parker trusses are listed as SELECT in the recent Indiana Historic Bridge Inventory. Also both are listed on the National Register, which seems unusual for state owned bridges. Apparently there is some local interest in these spans.

This bridge is closed to traffic following identification of a crack during inspection.
