It is steel with wood approaches on either side. This is located at the once busy Anoka Junction of the Pennsylvania RR where two lines came together which meant heavy train traffic.
Aqueduct Number 5 over Eel River for Wabash and Erie Canal [Map] Lost Bridge over Eel River on Wabash and Erie Canal in LogansportLostCanal opened Logansport up for trade, but this aqueduct played an important role in crossing the Eel River on it route from Toledo to Evansville during the mid 1800's. Canal was abandoned in 1876.

Interurban lines came together to the East of bridge and used this line to get to Logansport. Built over old Wabash and Erie Canal right of way. Canal lock remnants still nearby.

Easily seen from US 35 on North side of Walton as you are leaving town. Interurban went out in early 1930's and line scrapped.

Abutments are still there, bridge filled in and WSRY still runs the line overhead.

Railroad was abandoned in 1968. Road is straightened out through this area today.
Pennsylvania Railroad Eel River line Horney Creek Bridge [Map] Lost Timber stringer bridge over Horney Creek's mouth at Eel River which is running beside rail line/trail on Current River Bluff Trail, formerly Penn Central Railroad(nee PRR, Vandalia, Detroit and Eel River)Replaced by new bridgeThis rail line has quite the storied history of many owners, abandoned about 1968 or sooner, about a mile around this bridge was made into a paved trail. Bridge deck replaced completely. I am not sure if timber pilings remain from original.

Today US 35/24 go thru here on fill and no traces remain of old bridge.
