This is the former Southern railway bridge. The big four bridge is a mile south of this location.

I know major work was done on the railroad bridge between Mt.Carmel, IL and IN in the 50's could you give more information on this? We have an online conversation going about it.

Actually it was part of the Big Four's, New York Central subsidary, route between Danville IL and Cairo IL branching off to reach Evansville IN. This line was eventually sold by Conrail to the Southern of the Cairo to Mt. Carmel portion who eventually abandoned the line to Cairo Il from Mt. Carmel.

Yeah, Wabash RR crossed its namesake river near Lafayette.

This is actually former Southern Railway trackage, not ex-Wabash.
