Pekin Bridge
Posted March 12, 2011, by Gene Smania

This structure replaced a Strauss Vertical lift structure that was built in 1929. There were three other bridges of the same design over the Illinois River--Shippinsport at La Salle, which was replaced in 2003; Florence and Hardin which are still open to traffic. The photos were taken by Art Kistler, an IDOT employee, in 1929 and 1930.
