IAIS Rock River Bridge (Calona)
Posted July 2, 2013, by Gust Rouhas (grouhas)

In the summer of 1968 I was part of a construction crew who encased the original round pilings supporting the tracks just west of the river with solid concrete piers. We pumped cement into forms that we had filled with large gravel periodically dumped from hopper cars. On the Google maps satellite view you can see the five piers that we worked on. If anyone has more pictures of the bridge I would love to see them.
