Rooks Creek Interurban Viaduct
Posted January 1, 2014, by Tim Hickernell (tim [at] hickernell [dot] net)

Oops. Sorry for the confusion. I see someone already split these and gave the interurban viaduct its own record. That's what I get for using Google instead of coming straight to the Bridgehunter's search engine.

Rooks Creek Interurban Viaduct

I know the presence of the concrete arch viaduct has always perplexed people, since the interurban was not completed south of Pontiac as planned. However, I was able to find a historical record that the money to build the viaducts between Pontiac and Chenoa was indeed awarded to a bridge builder in Bloomington. So if anyone could find a bridge maker's mark that matches this record, that would solve the mystery for good.

At some point, we should probably split this record and give the interurban viaduct its own record in the database.

UPRR Rooks Creek Bridge

A photo came up for discussion in a Pontiac IL group discussion on Facebook and I feel that of all the Livingston County Bridges you have listed here that this the most likely spot it could be. My theory is that this was the abandoned bridge of the double track and that the photographer is standing on the existing possibly redone bridge as the photo seems to be angled down. It would be really nice to get some input as the location of the bridge.

Thanks in Advance.
