Muscatine Bridge
Posted June 28, 2010, by Lyon_Wonder (lyon_wonder [at] yahoo [dot] com)

This website has early 1970s pictures of the Muscatine waterfront that includes photos of the original Mississippi River bridge that was demolished after the current Beckey Bridge was built. The original bridge, which was called the "High Bridge" or Wagon Bridge" was built in 1891 when horse-drawn wagons were the dominant form of transportation.

The original old bridge looks like it retained it's original wood deck until the end.

It also has a 1973 photo with the old bridge being imploded with the then new Norbert F. Beckey bridge in the background.
