Same thing I thought. They are extending Highway 100 that way, I am pretty sure that's the reason.

Stripping out trees around an abandoned embankment won't fare well for the remains...its handwriting on the wall for impending demolition.

Was finally able to get back to see the culvert. I have uploaded the photos.

There's also a large culvert just behind the abutment. I am out that way quite often, I will try to get a photo of it.

Judging from the 1970s aerial imagery, the MILW overpass only crossed over the RI tracks underneath. Usher's Ferry Road appears to go under the MILW fill via a separate tunnel off to the side. Presumably following the abandonment of both railroads the bridge was removed and the tunnel taken out of service. The whole area looks to have been dug out some to create the current day roadway.
