Description

This entry could be considered a composite of three similar timber draws at this location between 1819 and 1866. A rebuild in 1854 by Henry Latham was later purchased by the towns of Stonington and Groton and made free. It was replaced in 1866 by a Truesdell truss swing bridge. A similar bridge was constructed in 1904 slightly south as a temporary bridge while a new bridge was being erected on Main Street. The temporary bridge lasted about three months and was removed.
