Harbor Road Bridge

Harbor Rd bridge 1

The more than 50-year-old timber-and-pile wooden bridge on Harbor Road leading to Saugatuck Shores – heavily damaged by Hurricane Sandy—will be replaced, Westport’s congressional delegation announced today. An announcement said funding will come from a $1,302,225 Pre-Disaster Mitigation grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) – 75 percent of the cost—supplemented by state funds. The new bridge will be a galvanized truss bridge with an open grate deck rated for emergency vehicle and heavy equipment loads, the announcement said.
