This was the second of three major bridges built in North Carolina by Town. This was the first offical use of the Town lattice truss as it was developed at this time and pat. during this year.

Built 1834; Burned by Union Army April 5, 1865

Lewisburg Susquehanna River Covered Bridge (Union County, Pennsylvania)
Built 1818 for Lewisburg Bridge Co. by Reuben Fields; washed away March 17, 1865
Lost Burr arch-truss bridge over West Branch Susquehanna River on road
Replaced by a new bridge

Smith's Bridge (first) (Will County, Illinois)
Built 1852; collapsed under a load ca 1855; rebuilt; replaced by new covered bridge 1865
