Strauss Articulated Overhead Counterweight Bascule

This particular Strauss bascule bridge is the only one of a kind of a unusual bascule bridge with the operating links connecting below the counterweight to the triangular A post that has the counterweight trunnion on the A post on each side. The counterweight struts connects between the counterweight to the tail end girder span, when the bridge lowers the links connects below the counterweight lifts up and when the bridge raises the links pulls the counterweight down between two parts of the triangular a post to a fully open position.
