OR-22 consists of three separate named highways running between US-101 at Hebo, Oregon and Santiam Junction near the top of the Cascade Mountains. Each section of the highways is described below.
THREE RIVERS HIGHWAY: Running from Hebo, Oregon on US-101 in the west to Grand Ronde, Oregon at the junction of OR-18. This section of highway through the Coast Range has an excellent collection of small scale concrete bridges built under the guidance of the Bureau of Public Roads.
WILLAMINA-SALEM HIGHWAY: Running between Willamina, Oregon in the west to the capital of Oregon in Salem, this highway's main bridge highlights consist of the Willamette River crossing in Salem. Though both bridges are of modern design, the Marion Street Bridge retains the design features consistent with bridges built prior to the Interstate Era.
NORTH SANTIAM HIGHWAY: Running from Salem, Oregon to Santiam Junction on the top of the Cascade Mountains, this scenic stretch of highway has been upgraded through the years with most of the notable bridges being replaced.
