Design
The U.P.R.R. – Sacramento River Bridge is a single 236-foot disabled pin-connected steel Pratt through truss swing span with four riveted Pratt through truss approach spans measuring 756-feet. The main truss bridge is approached by a 1534-foot pre-stressed concrete slab approach trestle on steel piles.
The span orientation from west to east is as follows.
100-foot riveted Pratt through truss (Built 1929)
236-foot disabled pin-connected Pratt through truss swing span (Built 1898)
3 – 140-foot riveted Pratt through truss approach spans (Built 1929)
1534-foot pre-stressed concrete approach trestle on steel pile
