Description 

The Cabrillo Bridge spans the Cabrillo Canyon and was built in 1915 as a pedestrian entranceway to the Panama-California Exposition. The bridge is 120 feet high only because of the height of the canyon and was built from a redwood frame with poured concrete. In 2004 a fire broke out, possibly due to arson, in the redwood timbers and firefighters had to punch holes through the concrete in order to put out the fire. In order to save the bridge and prevent further emergency the bridge was subsequently subject to a $1 million updating project to bring it up to code, earthquake safe, and fire resistant. Corrections to the descriptive information.

The Cabrillo Bridge was built in 1914 not 1915.

It was built both for pedestrian and automobile traffic not just pedestrians. Future president of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first person driven over the bridge.
