Brief history

Written by J Randall Houp

Plaque on bridge reads: American Bridge Company. I have found numerous spellings for the word, "Revilee". Even various census takers through the years have even come up with their versions. Historical note of importance: Located a short distance upstream from this bridge was the first Logan County Courthouse at a small town known as, Revilee in the early 1870's when the county was first known as, Sarber County.

Revilee Creek Railroad Bridge

I have always interpreted the "railroad" category to indicate that a bridge was built by or for a railroad company, not to indicate that the bridge still carries an active line. Somebody has removed this bridge from the railroad category as the line is no longer active. Can we get some sort of agreed standardization for this category?

Yes, years of naming issues and how the heck does one know where to find that little data card with all that local knowledge written down. Impressive.

It appears that the name of this creek has posed a spelling problem since at least the 1840s. See this link for the gory details:

Reveille is spelled incorrectly. Correct spelling is (Reveille).

Prairie Branch Bridge

David: Please make a correction on the name of this old RR bridge. This is the Revilee Creek Railroad Bridge. Just before this bridge Prairie Branch runs into Revilee Creek.
